Defamiliarizing Effect

The title, Defamiliarizing Effect, was chosen because during the process expressed in this work, the perception that the protagonist has always had about himself is in crisis. This is caused by the change of the consideration that the person in front of him has towards him. The protagonist isn’t satisfied with himself and looks for others’ approval continuously, until he gets to consider it a necessity.

This aspect is described by using the broadcasting medium which is able to show this process thanks to the relationship between the person who is shot and the watcher. In fact it’s precisely the viewer that, with his attention, authenticates a life otherwise invisible. In this case we can affirm that the actor is doubly prisoner: of his existential condition and of the camera that compresses and suffocates him inside the framing.

In our life some people can live only through the other’s attention. But what if they couldn’t attract the beloved interest? Can the indifference kill?
